Sweet Treats: Designer Behnaz Sarafpour

Behnaz Sarafpour showed her Fall 2009 collection in a Chelsea art gallery {New York} this season.

Sarafpour, known for tailored looks that often incorporate bows and lace, seemed to understand that in the current economic environment, what might work best is a little less overdone glitz.

Her latest collection, inspired by sculptor and artist Alexander Calder, gave way to graphic sculpted dresses, chic shearling coats, ombre wool, tunic tops worn with lean matte-black stretch pants and satin cocktail dresses, with graphic hair and makeup following suit.

The result: classic American style with a bit of an edge…a little androgyny with a hint of punk-ish 80's era glam. Here, our favourites...
