Artist Spotlight... Buster and Boo ❤

Update: The winner of the Buster and Boo earring give-a-way is OLIVE STREET STUDIO ...Congratulations! Be sure to enter this week's give-a-way from Elsita!
xxx

❤ ❤ ❤

Inspired by nature, the world around her, antiques and more, Sara Sacks, the self-taught designer and owner of Buster and Boo creates beautiful earrings, necklaces and Scrabble tile pendants that reflect her loves.

Busy with both her Buster and Boo Etsy shop as well as her sister shop, Woolies, which is full of adorable handmade dolls & toys, it’s surprising that she finds time for family, but she has managed to do it all.

And, in case you might have wondered…the name Buster and Boo originated with two of her four dogs, which usually lay by Sara most of the time when she works.

“I don’t think I’ll ever tire of the thrill I feel when somebody appreciates what I’ve made - enough to buy it! Oftentimes though, I become attached to an item, and then it’s hard to part with it!"

Spotlight...Buster and Boo

Tell us a bit about You…
Sara Sacks, Tucson Arizona. We live on a little ranch with 9 animals - 2 horses, 4 dogs, 3 cats OH and 2 teenage boys. But I'm afraid I still have my terrible Philadelphia accent. :0)

What inspires you?
There is nothing like wa
lking into a fabric store or a yarn shop and seeing all the colors and patterns. Then feeling it - I'm addicted to color and texture. But probably most of my inspiration comes from animals-nature.

Apart from creating things, what do you do for fun?
Horseback ride, hang out with my family, play with my dogs. Read - I used to rea
d all the time. I miss reading. It's hard to read when you're knitting or making jewelry.

Do you work at your art/craft full time or do you have another job?
I work full time, but the most wonderful thing about my 'day-job', is that my home is my office. I have to travel sometimes (ugh), but other than that I have a dream job. However, if I could only be 'discovered' on Etsy, then I just might quit my day job........dreaming......

What has been your most memorable moment selling your art?
Every sale is exciting. It's an affirmation. I also love doing craft fairs ~ I love face to face interaction. The internet is awesome, but I love meeting and talking with people.

What are your current obsessions?
Organic fibers and fabrics. Vintage beads. Sterling silver charms. Every day it's something new......

Any advice for fellow artists...
Promote, promote, promote. You cannot make sales if nobody knows about you.

If you could be any character who would it be and why?
I like being myself.....but as a kid I always pictured myself as a horse. I was also born in the Chinese year of the horse.

Do you think you lived in a past life? If so, where & when?
Yes. I think I'm an old soul. But no idea when or where...except I'm pretty sure it was near the ocean.

Tell us your future plans for your business...
More consignment and hopefully more wholesale.

Anyone you'd like to mention as a fave Etsy seller?
German Dolls, Mod Moxie or The Fairies Nest. Oooh, my list could go on and on
!

This Week's Give-A-Way is now closed. Congratulations to Olive Street Studio!

Sara of Buster and Boo is so very sweet! The winner of this week's give-a-way gets to pick her/his favourite pair of earrings from her shop valued at $12.00 or less! And, with so many stunning earrings to chose from, it's going to be a hard choice for one lucky person!

To enter...
Visit either Buster and Boo or Woolies, then come back here to tell us what you favourite item is.

For extra entries into this contest...
1} Get ONE extra entry by posting a comment on any other
post on my blog, not including artist features.
2.} Get ONE extra entry by following my blog.
3.}
Get THREE extra entries by posting about this blog and contest on your blog. Post here with link to your blog.

Most Important Details... I will make sure all extra entries are entered into the give-a-way since all entries are handwritten by me. I DO check every single entry and comment. The winner's name is drawn randomly by hand. If your favourite piece of item by Buster and Boo or Woolies is not part of your comment and some sort of viable contact information is not included, your entry will be disqualified. Give-a-way is shipped out via the artist. All entries must be received by noon on Sunday, February 22nd, 2009 PST. There is a clock on the right side of this blog so that you may check Los Angeles {PST} time. This contest is open to everyone, everywhere.

Best of luck to you, my Pretties!
