Melanie of Amateur Capture describes herself as a 30ish amature photographer and artist. With a focus on photography, her emotions and things we see and things that touch our lives everyday, she explores the world around her to gain inspiration.
“My photographs cause you to look at things in a different light. Capturing the essence of the subject as well as the feeling behind it.”
★ Tell us about you...
My name is Melanie and I reside in Wellington, Ohio. I came to Ohio to be with my best friend, whom I met online. I love it here and have never been happier.
★ What inspires you?
My family and my surroundings. I also get visions that just pop in my head and they dont rest until I have created the image. Those are the photographs under "What I Imagine" in my shop sections.
★ What has been your most memorable moment selling your art?
Hmmm... Probably my first sale to someone I didnt know. Realizing that others do like my work and are wanting it in their homes.
★ Any advice for fellow artists...
Do not focus on your sales. Do what you love and the sales will come. Dont let low sales prevent you from continuing to do what you love to do. I feel too many people hold sales as the most important thing. Your love for your art/craft is what is most important.

It is funny that one of the giveaways is for an owl (LaurenAlexander) and I totally have a thing for owls, but this one is for a dandelion print and well--Dandelions almost bring me to the point of happy tears, I have fond memories of taking my now almost 5 year old son for a walk and him insisting on blowing out every dandelion puff we'd come to. So now I look at dandelions with a lot of fondness!
I like the Tree in the Mist... there is some mystery behind the mist...plus I like the tree.

I have to say, I love 'Blow' the best, and not just because the title makes me giggle a little. I had a few photos in my collection before Etsy, but since joining I've really started to add to my photo collection and Blow would fit in perfectly - a happy medium between the organic and the decaying. And it's vibrant and crisp ~ I just love it!
I really enjoyed "looking back"
I've gone on many roadtrips in my life and there is nothing like looking in the mirror to see where you've been to appreciate where you're going...
Thank you for your work!
Portable Green
I like the "Lady Bug" in this listing:

Your use of grayscale is professional and not amateur at all. The flower the lady bug is on really pops! Nice job.
Cheers!
I also love Blow - dandelions always bring back sweet childhood memories :)

Blow would be my fave.
Because my daughter's loves to blow on them. I think she'd enjoy it.
Thanks so much for the opportunity.

Pink Hyacynth (sp?) is my favorite. (Not really because I can't pick just one favorite, but since I have to, that's the one I'll list here! LOL!!)
The reason I picked that one as my favorite is because pink is my favorite color, and I love the close-up of these flowers where the entire photo is filled with gorgeous pink flowers!!
I'm in love with this site now!! Thanks for introducing me to this photographer!!

Actually, I like the photo of the dandelion the best. I looked at the other photos including those of the cemetary and others. The dandelion still stands out. I like the blue background color and the lacy look of the flower.
I like Two Women of the Lake View Cemetary series. My sister and I lost our mother as children and have visited her cemetary since we were 6 and 8 years old. This photo reminds me of us.

Ladybug is my favorite. I enjoyed looking at her photos, all different and beautiful.Very creative way to look at everyday things.
Blow is my fav
My favorite is the one titled "reaching". I like this one because it is taken with a looking up view. I think this print represents looking up in life, always reaching for higher things and experiences. Not looking down to the past, but up to tomorrow!! It is an inspirational picture!!
Faith is a pretty amazing photograph!
Grand caught my eye first because trees for me are a particularily joyful symbol of life. I like the way the lovely branches standout against the colourful backdrop sky.
i love the purple and sky :)
i love Angel's Eyes. why? b/c its such a great photo of a cat, and we love cats. thanks for the contest
Wow there are so many great photos at the shop. I like In Thought because I always seem to be thinking about what I have to do next, Looking Back because I am always looking back on my life and wondering what I could have done differently, and Angel's Eyes since I love cats so much and own one. This is a great giveaway and I really hope I win. Thanks.
