Pretty Things Fashion... Gripp Jeans

{{ ALL THINGS NEW ROMANTIC }}

Designed by Dianne Grgat,  the A/W 2009 collection for Australian label Gripp Jeans is a renaissance of ‘gothic chic’.

"It's sophisticated glamour with a rock vamp edge, leaving the collection with a feel of lust and utter abandonment."

Key pieces such as the corsets in power net and lace emphasise feminine virtues such as the décolletage. Fitted body dresses in lace and draped jersey play a game of peek-a-boo on the derriere. Feminine assertiveness is expressed with strong structural lines in shoulder detailing and the use of leather and heavy metal hardware and trims.

Who said New Romantic is dead?

Bringing SEX-y Back...

The long-awaited Sex and the City movie opens in theatres tomorrow after it's premiere kickoff at Radio City Music Hall earlier this week.

Women everywhere are all a-titter, plannin
g SATC parties and movie outings with their BFFs...and here at Dirty Pretty Things, we are no different...! :)

We're stepping back into our Jimmy Choo stilettos and going just to catch up on what's happened since the Carrie and the girls last left us ...and, of course, to gossip
on the fashion styled by Miss Patricia Field. We'll decide what works and what doesn't...for us anyway.

Here's a peek at some great Sex and the City styles we love...

{ Prints Galore }

From enchanting florals to bold graphics... Charlotte {Kristin Davis}, Carrie {Sarah Jessica Parker} and Miranda {Cynthia Nixon} look fun and flirty in their patterned dresses and sexy stilettos.

{ Garden Party }

Florals florals everywhere! Carrie looks absolutely amazing in this pink floral confection {left} and her signature flower is back and larger than ever! {below}

{ Fatal Fur }

Samantha {Kim Cattrall} and Carrie look warm, cozy and confident {that there are no PETA people close by} as they work those furs to the hilt.

{ Wedding Belles }

Carrie is the perfect Manhattan princess bride in a killer Vivienne Westwood gown complete with veil and head piece of feathers.

...And, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte are radiant brides maids in colourful Zac Posen gowns.

Pretty Things: Protea

The quirky, curiously beautiful Spring/Summer 2008 collection by Protea is clean, simple and easy to wear...the name Protea coming from the botanical genus name of flowering shapes of different forms.
I'm loving it...

Pretty Things Fashion: Sex and the City Premiere

Yesterday I happened to notice that everyone was making such a fuss over what Sarah Jessica Parker wore to Monday night's London premiere for the upcoming Sex and the City movie. Parker, who arrived at the premiere in a sweet Alexander McQueen confection, complete with the most amazing avant-garde Philip Treacy hat, looked absolutely fabulous!

Some said that SJP {channeling Carrie Bradshaw} is the only one who could possibly pull off such an outfit. Au contraire! ...I think there are many people who could have pulled off such a look {and quite often do}, such as Dita Von Teese, Gwen Stefani, Elizabeth McGrath, ...moi {hee hee}... And, I'd even like to clean Amy Winehouse up a bit and have her try this one...just put that exquisite hat right on top of that big ole' mess of hair!

Just in case you are not familiar with the work of Philip Treacy...he's a milliner who's work is clearly part of the fashion world, but his extravagant head sculptures also cross the boundary into visual art. Treacy has designed hats for many haute couture houses such as McQueen, Chanel, Givenchy, Helmut Lang, Versace, Mugler, Anna Molinari, etc... Here's a smidge sampling of his beautiful creations {Watch out...there's some boob showing in these pix}:

...And, here's a close up of the stunning hat he made to go with the Alexander McQueen dress that SJP wore. This towering sculpture is complete with green roses, butterflies and the very same peacock feathers featured on her dress, thanks to Mr. McQueen sending them to Treacy just so the hat would match exactly.... How sweet!

The new Sex and the City movie is being touted as the cinematic fashion event of this summer — a rumoured 81 costume changes for SJP alone! We can't wait!
....Are all you fashionistas ready for it's release on May 27th?
