Artist Spotlight... NOODLE & LOU ❤

Update...
The winner of the Lulette Heart Ring and Print of her choice from Noodle & Lou is
ANDREA. ...Congratulations!

❤ ❤ ❤

Jenn of Noodle and Lou is a self taught illustrator and artist who creates whimsical little works of art to delight and inspire. Her original paintings on canvas, collage, archival art prints are such fun and definitely elicit a smile from anyone who sees them. She also has an newer addition to her work... "The Lulettes"…a collection of little polymer clay dolls, busts and quirky houses. You'll definitely want to check them out and add several pieces to your wunderland collections.

"I am a self taught artist following my dream of working for myself and selling my art. My art is meant to make you smile
and bring some FUN into your home. "

Jenn has been successful at making her career as an artist and now lives very happily in the Chicago area with her husband, a cat named Mazzy and two adorable boys, who inspired her business name of Noodle and Lou...it comes from the nicknames she gave them when they were babies. Cuteness!

Spotlight...Noodle & Lou

❤ Tell us a bit about yourself…

Hi everyone! I'm Jenn and I live in the Chicago area with my husband and 2 sons. I'm really a Florida girl though...born and raised there and truly missing the beach right about now! I am sort of known for my love of polka dots but am equally obsessed with all things vintage. I can usually be found in a black shirt or dress paired with blue jeans, running around after my 2 boys or working late into the night in my studio. I am a self taught artist following my dream of working for myself and selling my art. My business is named after the nicknames I had for my sons at birth. mr. noodle and little lou!

What inspires you? Where do your ideas come from?
Old books inspire me a lot. Sometimes I will search through a vintage book until a random, funny or sweet sentence pops out at me...and that can inspire a whole painting or sculpture…and my ideas? my mind really never stops churning! I keep a pad of paper by my bed to capture all my "middle of

the night" ideas. The trouble is time! There is NEVER enough time to do everything I want to do:) My best ideas come from me just playing around with the clay or paint. I very rarely sketch a painting before I start. I just go for it and let the paints and textures guide me.

Apart from creating things, what do you do for fun?
well...I have 2 boys, ages 8 and 4, so there is always some sort of crazy fun going on in my house! On the rare occasion that I am alone (really rare), I love to shop. Especially at junk or vintage shops. I really love interior decorating... I'm always moving something around or making some area of my home new again:) I also enjoy reading and looking through my stacks and stacks of old magazines.

❤ Do you work at your art/craft full time or do you have another job?

This is my full time job (that I share with being a Mom of course) and it has been for the past 4 years. yahooo!

What has been your most memorable moment selling your art?
My first sale was pretty memorable:) I dreamed of starting my business for many years and couldn't believe it was actually happening! My favorite memories are of the times my oldest son, Jake, would sit and paint with me. My kids have always been a huge part of my business:)

What are your current obsessions/interests?
Polymer clay, birds, houses, Anthropologie, Etsy, anything with numbers on it, polka dots, cute shoes, beating my husband at Wii tennis...

Any advice for fellow artists...
Be true to yourself...follow your own voice and your art will shine:)

If you could be any character, who would it be and why?
Superheroine... Wonder Woman of course! I grew up in the 70's...she rocked. Need I say more;)

Do you think you lived in a past life? If so, where & when?
hmmmm...I'm pretty sure this is it.

Tell us your future plans for your business...
My plan is to just keep trying new things... keeping it fresh for my sweet customers/friends. I belong to a lovely and talented group of artists at SpookyTimeJingles.com where we create Halloween and Christmas goodies each month of the year. I'm working on a blurb book and I'd love to expand with licensing in the future! (or maybe I could just clone myself? either one)

❤ Anything else you'd like to add about yourself or your work, etc….
I'd really just like to thank my loyal followers and friends. I wish I could think of new and exciting

ways to say it...but I appreciate you all so much. Thank you, TRULY, for helping me to live my dream! xoxo

❤ Who are your favourite Etsy sellers?
Wow...there are so many etsy sellers that I adore! I'll say the first person that popped into my head...MorningLori. I LOVE her wonderful sculptures and softies. Not only is she super talented... she is a tremendously adorable person too! Take a peek at all my etsy faves though as there are so many wonderful shops and friends!!

Pretty Things Big Give: * Sugarberry *

Update: FRUGALLM is the winner of the Sugarberry give-a-way and gets to pick either the juiciest strawberry earrings or a freshly picked pink handmade flower bracelet as her giftie. Thanks to everyone who entered...be sure to enter this week's give-a-way too!

Patrizia is the 19 year old wunderkind artist from Montreal behind Sugarberry who has a passion for cuteness. She confects a sweet shop full of original and unique wearable treats that are quirky, whimsical and such fun!
Patrizia loves to make jewelry and sew whenever she can and her work is noticeably inspired by nature. On any given day, you might find her crafting an owl, sculpting a pretty flower or making some yummy veggies from her garden. Super kawaii!

What inspires you?
My imagination, my mother and my sister. I usually try to make things that I think are unique and cute. I starting making clay vegetables and fruits and couldn't stop! I love rainy days.

What do you do for fun?
I love boring stuff like watching television and reading. Oh, I enjoy shopping especially for bath and beauty products. Besides those things, I create...and that's all I like to do.

What has been your most memorable moment selling your art?
Since I am new to this, I haven't sold much. Probably when I sold my first original piece on Etsy from promoting on another online forum. I told the guy who bought my work that Etsy is as awesome site and he wrote back to me saying he had spent the last hour browsing and buying more art. I spread the Etsy addiction.

Any advice for fellow artists...
Do what you love, that's pretty much all you can do.
